services identity

Being an athlete is a big part of your identity and you’re feeling lost. You are noticing it showing up in others aspects of life like irritability in relationships, fatigue, lack of motivation to show up to training or feeling less enjoyment in your activities.

  • Struggling with a setback or untimely injury that’s leaving you feeling defeated
  • Ready to feel more confident in managing stress and anxiety
  • Tired of feeling like you know you are capable of more but can’t seem to show it when you need to perform
  • You’re highly driven and hold yourself to high expectations but sometimes balancing all of the demands feels overwhelming

you’re wondering how therapy can help

Sports Therapy can help you have a clearer mind
and more emotional and physical energy

Relational, work, or school stressors can impact us more than we realize. Physical activity can be an outlet for frustrations and tension held in our body, but talking openly to someone about what you are feeling can be incredible beneficial. Sports therapy a multi-faceted discipline that empowers athletes to evaluate all aspects of life and how their past and present might be impacting them. Utilizing elements of sports psychology as well as other therapy approaches like internal family systems, motivational interviewing and mindfulness can help you feel more empowered to perform to your full potential.

Athletes might be more likely to struggle in silence whether that be due to stigma/fear of judgment, lack of perceived or actual access resources, normalization of symptoms or toxic culture among athletic peers, and more. Athletes tend to be high-achieving individuals who hold themselves to high standards and struggle with self-compassion, all or nothing thinking and perfectionism. While these qualities have probably served you in being successful to this point, they may also be contributing to some of the challenges you are facing. You are not alone in navigating these challenges and together we will tap into your strengths.

Working Together

You’re talented and driven but things aren’t going exactly as planned.

You want to talk to someone who has been there and understands the ups and downs that can occur as you strive to be your best self. Together we can work through mental blocks, foster healthy relationships with yourself, teammates, coaches, and supports. Athletics have many benefits including creating connections, teamwork, leadership skills, and determination, but they can also cause unique stressors.

As a former college student-athlete myself, I am passionate about supporting athletes in this physically and mentally demanding time of your life while respecting and nurturing your mind and body. I take a holistic approach and value understanding how all aspects of your life, identity and environment might be impacting you. My first priority will be building a strong therapeutic relationship as the foundation of our work and from there we will explore past and present experiences that might be impacting you. We will move at your pace and I will offer techniques for mindfulness, reframing thoughts, and effective coping strategies along the way.

If you are a former athlete and looking for support in adjusting to life after your sport, reach out and I would love to work together to foster your strengths as an athlete into assets in your career and personal life.
